-------

Hellooooo!

"Who's this journal from?"
"Who the heck is erilu?"
"Why is this showing in my message center?"

These are some questions you might be asking yourself, it's normal. But here, read on.

Once every full moon I update my journal. Whenever I feel it's important and stuff.

So my dear dear friend ZEBES was  featured as one of the best 200 deviations from 2010 in the article "Mini DDs best of 2010 Extravaganza": news.deviantart.com/article/14…
And he needs votes! Here's his piece: fav.me/d2vmcg6

:bulletblue:Okay, so how do I help?

Simple, you just have to vote. If you want to help him, of course you can vote for his entry (by writing a note ith the subject "vote" to the news' author. *SlyDante). But this is IMPORTANT, you have to vote for at least FIVE (5) entries, not just one. So, check the articule out, pick your 5 (or more) favorites and send your votes via note. Also, if you think it's worth it, you can spread the word, get more people to vote for him as well. He'll be really thankful and honored if you decide so.

:bulletblue:So, I'll be just helping HIM?

Not really, no. It would be very cool that lots of people vote, because, quoting *SlyDante: "Herego, with each person voting for Deviation of the Year, 50 cents will be donated to the Red Cross to help out with disaster relief overseas in Japan & anywhere else affected, & $1.00 will be donated with each article of featured Deviations sent to us as well." So really, take a look at the article, vote, and create+link your own features article if possible (those mean extra donations!), cause these guys have a good initiative here.

:bulletblue:When is the voting deadline?

April 12, three weeks from now.

Thanks guys! Hope to update dA soon. Meanwhile you can check the good ol' blog where I update more often...ISH. www.erickalugo.com

I just want to link to IzzyMedrano's journal cause words of wisdom like this must be shared whenever possible: ariokh.deviantart.com/journal/…

"When you pay an artist for their work, their prices denote not just the cost of their time, the materials, or the effort for your project. What you are paying for is the cost of experience. A lifetime spent perfecting a craft, and honing an ability. You pay for all the mistakes we won't make for you, because we've made them for ourselves already. You pay for the mind that has been training to deal with specific problems, and generate kick ass ideas, and original concepts.

These things are not born to us, they are learned. You are paying for the time you don't have to spend learning the craft. Just like you pay for pizza when you don't want to make it yourself. "

Edit: I totally forgot to thank everyone who congratulated me on the DD! It was a great surprise. So thank you guys for the comments, favs and watches. Feedback has been amazing and I'm really happy you like what you saw in here.

Plan B is turning 50 soon and so to celebrate, his creator, Mr. Joshua Jenkins, is going to post your fan art on the comic's site! :excited:
If you haven't read Plan B then shame on you. And if you haven't even heard of it you should be twice as ashamed cause you are probably watching me and the two covers I did for it are in my gallery XD

It's going to be fun! Plus, you'll exercise your drawing and painting muscles!
And don't give me the "Nah, I'm in pretty good shape" excuse cause we all know in art there is no such thing as too much exercise.
You've been warned.
I won't buy it.

More info: (taken from Joshua's journal victoranomalous.deviantart.com…)

"I'm still relatively new to the webcomic world but people have told me to do fun stuff for my milestones. I didn't really know what to do so I went back to said people and said, "What do I do?" They said, "post fan art!" and I said, "That's a great idea! Where do I get that?". And here I am, asking you sexy people for fan art. If you're interested send it to victoranomalous@hotmail.com before the 15th of November Then I'll post them all the 16th and we'll all high-five, fist bump, or however else we celebrate our existence.

If you've never read Plan B: shame on you, here a link www.planbwebcomic.com

It doesn't have to be amazing, I'm like your mom, it could be some insane scrawling on a bar napkin and I will still put it on the refrigerator.

so yeah, thanks in advance!

And sorry for the lack of updates guys, freelance's been taking all my time. I hope to keep working on the girl series and other stuff pretty soon T_T
I am not one of the contributing artists but I'd like to spread the word about this. The auction is held by  Mike Daarken Lim to help pay for his girlfriend's cancer treatment. Here's some of the info:

"Earlier this year my girlfriend, Cat, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 25. On November 3rd, 2009, she had a bilateral mastectomy after going through 16 weeks of chemotherapy. As you can imagine it has been hard for her, not only mentally and physically, but financially. In order to help alleviate some of her medical bills Leif and I wanted to throw an art auction. The proceeds that are left over after her medical bills have been paid will go to a breast cancer related charity to be determined by the artists in the coming weeks.

We currently have artists contributing that hail from all regions of the industry: concept artists, animators, photographers, sculptors, fine artists, illustrators, you name it. The theme for the auction is "Beautiful Grim." The interpretation of "Beautiful Grim" has been left up to the artists."

To help support Mike and Cat, check out the auction, spread the word, and maybe even place a bid:

Another awesomely talented artist. Check him out, his work is plain gorgeous and he too is relatively new to dA.

Sad loss, really. He was a wonderful illustrator.

From his family:

Frank Frazetta, one of the most renowned fantasy illustrators of the 20th century whose stunning and energetic images influenced a generation, died this afternoon at a hospital near his home in Boca Grande, Florida. He was 82.

The cause of death was a stroke.
Hey guys I updated the blog with some sketches in case you want to see.

Now, after this short intermission, back to work. :work:
Well, I wasn't expecting that, haha. Thanks so much for all the comments, favs, and watches. It's a shame it only lasts one day! And as in any journal thanking for a DD here comes the inevitable: "I don't think I will be able to reply to all the messages". But I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I hope I can keep creating images that you'll like.

Special thanks to $spinegrinder for the feature and to `archanN for adding me to his fav folder where $spinegrinder found the piece =P
Since I love/have to be/need drawing people and lack models AND am absolutely tired of reproducing photos I find on the internet and breaking copyright laws, here is a proposition for you:

Send me your picture! Post a link in this journal. And try to make it interesting! No graduation photos, NO PORN or anything promiscuous, people. Let's keep it PG.

Please note that these will be daily exercises IN my sketchbook, that means: don't expect perfect resemblance, a rendered piece of work or anything of the like. I might change some things or just use the pose or the expression or I don't know. The good thing is that you will: (a) have my eternal gratitude (b)feel SUCH a satisfaction knowing you helped a broke artist get some skill to make moneys in the future! Not much, though, just enough to survive.

Here's a pic just to give an example of how I'm going to be working on these little sketches:

erickalugo.blogspot.com/2009/0…

Credits to Bob Jones for the reference.

I will be posting these in my blog periodically and eventually post them as one deviation (or maybe more) and link to you of coAAAArsee.

Come on don't be shyyyy!!

edit: Doesn't necessarily have to be your portrait, just a picture you own, with a person in it, of course. And doesn't always have to be a headshot. ;)
